Masaki Taniguchi

Masaki Taniguchi is Professor in the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics
at the University of Tokyo. He has research interests in electoral studies
and political communication.
He has published many books, including Representative Democracy in Japan (University of Tokyo Press), Politics and Mass Media (University of Tokyo Press), The Theory of Party Support (Iwanami Shoten), Electoral Reform in Japan (University of Tokyo Press), and The U.S.-Japan Trade Relationship (University of Tokyo Press). His publications in English appear in such
journals as International Political Science Review, Political Communication, Electoral Studies, and Japanese Journal of Political Science.
He is the president of Nippon Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA). He has served as the Commissioner of National Commission for the Management of Political Funds, nominated by the Diet.
Professor Taniguchi received his BA and PhD in Political Science from the University of Tokyo.
